I am Beatriz Marín Díaz, a 25-year-old predoctoral researcher at the UNEX.
- WHAT do you research?
I research liver cancer.
- WHERE do you research?
I conduct my research at the University of Extremadura, in the Faculty of Science, specifically in the Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Genetics.
- WHEN do you plan to do your work?
The current project I am working on has a duration of four years.
- WHY is your work important?
Cancer is the second leading cause of death in Spain. Specifically, liver cancer has a survival rate between 12% and 35%. Finding pharmacological targets or markers that can help detect or predict it is of vital importance.
- Is your work related to any EU mission?
It is related to the mission Cancer: working with Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan to improve the lives of more than 3 million people by 2030 through prevention, cure and solutions to live longer and better.
