One night, I dreamed of being a researcher, and today I’m…
I remember the first time I watched Star Wars, and how George Lucas’s universe fascinated me. That night, I dreamed about androids. Today, thirty years later, I’m a researcher at the University of Extremadura with a PhD in robotics. The subject: robot navigation. Yes, I work with robots. I’m very passionate about robotics.
During the last decade, robotics has evolved so much that there is nothing crazy about saying that in a few years we will live surrounded by robots. That’s my new line of research, social robotics. Can a robot behave like a human while performing its tasks? I began asking myself this question a few years ago, just after joining the RoboLab group following my doctorate studies in the University of Málaga. Since then, we directed multiple successful research projects in that line that make me ask myself… Do androids dream of electric sheep?
