- WHO are you?
I am Nazareth Torres, born in Iruña in 1990, with a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Navarra (UN). I completed a PhD in Biology and Environmental Science at the UN and worked for two years as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Davis. Currently, I work as a researcher with a Juan de la Cierva contract at the Public University of Navarra.
- WHAT do you research?
I research how to achieve healthier and longer-lasting vineyards by promoting more environmentally sustainable viticulture practices in grape cultivation.
- WHERE do you research?
I conduct research in the Advanced Viticulture and Fruiticulture group at the Public University of Navarra.
- WHEN do you plan to do your work?
I started this contract in May 2021, and during this time, I have obtained many results that I hope will help me secure funding to continue my research work.
- WHY is your work important?
My work is important because agriculture is one of the pillars of the global economy, with viticulture being one of the most important sectors. Therefore, agronomic and environmental research in this sector will be crucial in achieving a more sustainable world in the near future.
Is your work related to any EU mission?
Yes, my work is related to the mission A Soil Deal for Europe: 100 living labs and lighthouses to lead the transition towards healthy soils by 2030.
