The University of Extremadura (UEx), founded in 1973, is the main public research institution in Extremadura, with 4 university campuses. It has more than 24,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students and a further 8,000 students on doctoral courses, special degrees and continuous training. There are 1500 lecturers and more than 800 administrative, technical and service staff. UEx provides large, state-of-the-art research infrastructures and laboratories, including high quality research containment facilities.
