- WHO are you?
I am Paula Aldaz Donamaria, holding a degree in Health Biology and Biochemistry from the University of Navarra. I obtained my PhD in Neuroscience from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), conducting my thesis research in the Department of Cellular Oncology at the Biodonostia Health Research Institute. Currently, I am a Postdoctoral Researcher and Associate Professor at the Public University of Navarra in the field of Didactics of Experimental Sciences within the Department of Sciences.
- WHAT do you research?
My research career is focused on cancer research, specifically on Glioblastoma. Glioblastoma represents the most malignant brain tumors. My goal is to improve the treatment for these patients.
- WHERE do you research?
I am part of the Cancer Signaling group at the NAVARRABIOMED biomedical research center, within the Navarra Health Research Institute.
- WHEN do you plan to conduct your work?
Currently, I am involved in several Glioblastoma research projects.
- WHY is your work important?
Despite advances in recent years, there is no effective treatment for glioblastoma. On average, patients do not survive more than 15 months. My work is important to improve treatment, increase survival, and enhance quality of life, in line with the Cancer Mission of the Horizon Europe program.
- Is your work related to any EU mission?
Yes, indeed. My work is related to the EU mission “Climate Change Adaptation including Social Transformation.” The outcomes of my work directly contribute to understanding the eco-physiological limits of species under climatic and anthropogenic conditions.
